Long story less long, my best friend is practicing and slowly becoming an actress. But has had a bit of a hump in practicing due to not having a partner to practice lines with. So one day, I came up with an idea... "how about I record the opposite lines and leave space for you to say your lines?"
sudo pacman -S ardour
plug in used < $100 interface, $15 mic & begin recording.

She's said, after one night that she's been able to practice more times than she has with any other method and already feels, much, much more confident about her audition this weekend.
So.. To linux, manjaro, arch, ardour and everything in between: Thank you. We improved life for someone (my best friend) and it took less than 30 minutes!
